Third International Pilates Day Promotes Active American Youth

MIAMI, FL -- The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) is dedicating it's Third Annual International Pilates Day on May 6, 2006 to raising awareness of the nation's increasing inactivity and launching its new Pilates exercise initiative in the public school system.

"Our goal is to offer this Pilates initiative at no cost to the schools, as a public statement of the PMA's dedication to worldwide health,” said Kevin Bowen, executive director of the PMA. “Through our pre-pilot study we have found that just a short Pilates routine once a week not only improved the children's physical fitness but also resulted in increased mental focus and productivity in the classroom."

To launch the public school initiative, the annual Pilates Day will be about Pilates awareness and whole body health. Pilates Day events will take place at participating studios worldwide with special appearances by Pilates most well-known instructors at the Camp Pilates National Event at the Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa in Miami Beach, FL.
